Remineralization Double Effect
Also in the field of oral hygiene and dental care, sustainability is expected by the customer in addition to greater effectiveness. The QMILK® also has a demineralizing effect biopolymer in addition to the cleaning function, because casein has a high affinity to the tooth surface and protects it from acidic food and saliva proteins. Therefore, the use of the milk protein-based polymers as abrasive in toothpastes offers new caries preventive potential.
The demineralization and lesion depth of the molten tooth are demonstrably reduced by casein and the remineralization of e.g. Acid-damaged tooth fuse is promoted.
Scientific studies show that the κ-casein inhibits the adherence of plaque formers on saliva-covered hydroxyapatite, the basic substance of tooth enamel. There are also the binding capacity of the streptococcal cell wall protein-forming enzyme of Glycosyltransferase and their activity at the plaque-forming by κ-casein.
A caries protective effect of κ-casein is based on a reduced formation of cell wall proteins of the plaque formers. On the other hand is assumed on the competition with saliva proteins for binding sites on the enamel, which ultimately leads to anti-bacterial adherence.
